The plan is to cover chapters 1-16.
Homework: Homework problems are to be assigned
once a week. They are due the following week in class,
usually on Wednesdays. No late homework will be accepted.
Quizzes: will usually be on Fridays. The first
quiz will take place on January 27.
Attendance: of lectures/discussions is expected.
Exams: There two midterms and a final. All exams
will be closed book.
The midterms will take place on
February 22 and April 12 (the dates are
not likely to change).
The final, according to the non-combined final
examination schedule is to take place on
8:00-11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11
Requests for a make-up quizzes or exams require a serious
documentation and are (almost) never granted. Please plan
accordingly. I will drop the lowest homework and quiz scores.
Grade: The formula for the course grade is roughly
There is no plan for a curve.
However, if you do significantly better on the final than your course
average grade, I will take that into account.
final exam = 35 %
2 midterms at 20 % each = 40%
homework, quizzes = 25%
