Undergraduate Math Conferences
A list of conferences of interest to local (UIUC) students involved in
undergraduate research projects in mathematics. I'll try to keep the listing
up-to-date and add additional conferences as they get announced.

Young Mathematicians Conference (YMC), Ohio State. August 20-22, 2022
(online).
The YMC conference is a well-run and generously funded undergraduate
conference that has been running annually since 2003. It is aimed at
the high end of the undergraduate research spectrum, and is highly
competitive with only a 40 percent acceptance rate.
Application Deadline: August 6, 2021.

MAA MathFest, August 4-7, 2021 (online event).
The MathFest the main meeting of the Mathematical Association of America
(MAA), with many presentations and activities aimed at undergraduates,
including two opportunities for oral presentations by undergraduates:
an Undergraduate Student Paper Session that
is open to all undergraduates, and a Pi Mu Epsilon Student Paper
Session for undergraduates who are members of the PiMuEpsilon Math
Honors Society.
Deadline for submitting abstracts for the undergraduate
student paper session:

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Undergraduate Mathematics Conference,
April 24-25, 2021 (online).
The Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Conference
is one of the longest running conferences of its kind, with ample
opportunities for talks by undergraduates. The 2021 edition will be
online.
Deadline for applications: April 9, 2021.

University of Illinois
Undergraduate Research Symposium, April 26-30, 2021 (virtual).
The 2021 UI Undergraduate Research Symposium is again held
virtually. The main event is a (virtual) poster session.

Deadline for applications: March 19, 2021.

Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics,
University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Jan. 22-24, 2021 (online event).
A one-of-a-kind conference, co-founded by a UIUC PhD (Judy Walker),
which has been running annually since 1999. The deadline for
applications for a talk or poster presentation is October 15, 2020.
Registrations without presentations are accepted until December 1,
2020.

MAA Student Poster Session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, January
6-9, 2021 (online event).
The "Joint Mathematics Meetings" (JMM) is the largest annual mathematics meeting
in the world, held in January of each year. The MAA Student Poster
Session held in conjunction with this meeting is the largest, and most
prestigious, forum for undergraduates to present posters on their research.
The 2021 edition of the JMM will be entirely virtual.
The application deadline for presentations at the Student Poster Session
is November 6, 2020.

Undergraduate Mathematics Symposium, University of Illinois at Chicago,
November 7, 2020 (online event).
The UMS is an annual one-day meeting featuring invited
lectures by mathematical researchers and
contributed talks and poster presentations by undergraduates.
This year's edition will be
online-only and will offer opportunities for lightning talks by
undergraduates.
The deadline to apply for a lightning talk is
October 15, 2020.

April 24-25, 2020.
Now in its 37th year, the Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics
Conference is a well organized and friendly conference with ample
opportunities for talks by undergraduates.
It is held at the beautiful Rose-Hulman Campus in Terre Haute, Indiana,
an easy two hour drive from C-U,

ISMAA Annual Meeting, University of St Francis, Joliet, IL, March 13-14, 2020.
This meeting of the Illinois Section of the Mathematical Association
of America held on Pi Day (3/14/2020) includes several sessions
for 15 minute talks by undergraduates.

Southeastern Undergraduate Mathematics Workshop,
Aug. 5-9, 2019, Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA.
A week-long undergraduate mathematics workshop featuring two mini-courses, faculty
talks, graduate school and career panels, and student presentations and posters.
This year's mini-courses will be on applications of topology to biology, and
topological data analysis. Funding for travel and local accommodations is
available.
Application deadline: May 31, 2019.

This conference, held in conjunction with the MAA Mathfest, provides
opportunities for oral presentations by students who are members of
PiMuEpsilon, a national math honors
society. Limited travel funding is available to PME members who present
at the meeting.

This is my favorite undergraduate math conference.
Held at the beautiful Rose-Hulman Campus in Terre
Haute, Indiana, an easy two hour drive from C-U,
it is an exceptionally well organized, friendly, and non-pretentious
conference. Highly recommended!

University of Texas, Austin, TX.
First held in 2013, this is a small, friendly undergraduate conference
focusing on topology and geometry, with opportunities for
20 minute student talks and poster presentations. Funding is available.

Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics,
January 23 - 25, 2015.
A one-of-a-kind conference, co-founded by a UIUC PhD (Judy Walker),
which has been running annually since 1999. Limited travel funding is
available. Registration opens October 1, 2014.
SPECIAL NOTE: Unlike most other conferences, this conference evaluates
applications as they come in, and registration closes as soon as all spots
are taken. Last year, the conference filled up within days.
