Grading The course grade will be calculated as follows.
Final exam: 35%
Midterms: 2x20%=40%
Homework: 15%
Quizzes: 10%
Exam dates Midterm 1, Thursday Sept 24, in class.
Midterm 2, Thursday Nov 12, in class. Will cover the material in sections 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.5, 4.6, 5.1, 5.2
Final exam:
Section SL1: 8-11AM Wednesday Dec 16 in normal lecture room.
Section TL1: 7-10PM Tuesday Dec 15 in normal lecture room.
Homework Assignments will be given weekly using MyMathLab Platform. You will need to pay for access to the MyMathlab platform (with the registration fee you will get access to an electronic version of the text.) Please see their Get Started Flyer for instructions on how to register. The course ID for Section SL1 is kerman56524 and the course ID for Section TL1 is kerman02694. Please make sure you use the correct ID for your section. The homework will count for 15% of your grade. The 2 lowest assignment scores will be dropped from your grade.
Quizzes There will be a quiz every second Thursday (approximately) administered in class. They count for 10% of your grade and the two lowest scores will be dropped. You may not use books, notes, calculators or computers.
Syllabus We will cover the material in the first six chapters of the text. Here is a more precise syllabus.
Test Policies No books, notes, calculators or computers allowed. Make up tests will almost never be given. The only exception is when you present written evidence, as soon as possible, that you did (or will have to) miss an exam for a legitimate reason, e.g. illness or family emergency. Travel and leisure plans are never a legitimate reason.
