The grading scale was orginally A 45, B 40, C 35, D 30 but is now A 45, B 39, C 32, D 24.
  • Exam 2: Wednesday, April 3, in class. The scores were: 15, 18, 21, 22, 22, 23, 27, 29, 30, 30, 34, 35, 35, 35, 36, 36, 38, 38, 39, 40, 41, 41, 42, 42, 43, 43, 43, 44, 44, 44, 44, 44, 46, 47, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48, and 49 out of 50. The grading scale is A 43, B 37, C 30, D 23.
  • Final exam: 8am, Friday, May 10. The scores were: 7, 22, 41, 41, 44, 44, 48, 49, 52, 53, 56, 62, 63, 64, 65, 65, 65, 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 74, 76, 77, 78, 79, 83, 83, 84, 85, 86, 86, 89, 92, 93, 93, 94, 94, and 97 out of 100. The grading scale is A 80, B 66, C 50, D 35.
  • Grading policy:

We intend to use a scoring scheme where 90% or better is an A, 80-90% is a B, 70-80% is a C, 60-70% is a D, and 0-60% is an F, but we modify that scale downward. We will average your scores so that

  • the quizzes count for 8% of your final grade, with the lowest 3 scores dropped,
  • the homework counts for 0%, except extra credit homework counts extra,
  • the two hour exams each count for 23%, and
  • the final exam counts for 46%.
  • If some calamity that may affect your performance befalls you or your family during the semester, let me know about it right away.

    Appeals about scoring:

You are welcome to appeal a score which you think was assigned incorrectly. We try our best to score correctly.
