Text: Linear Algebra with applications by S. J. Leon.
Homework: This will be assigned on Wednesday and collected the following Wednesday. Everyone should turn in their own solutions each Wednesday, but I also expect you to work together as well as independently.
An optimal strategy is to: (1) try each problem yourself first; (2) get together with others to discuss your solutions and questions; (3) write up the solutions yourself. There is a balance which must be achieved to optimize the benefits of homework: Struggling with a problem leads to a much deeper understanding of the concepts. On the other hand, if you are really stuck, talking to other can help you get ``unstuck'', and can help you move on.
Hand in only neatly written solutions. This is very important, and messy work will be returned ungraded!
Tests: There will be two midterms and a final exam. The dates for the midterms will be determined soon and posted to this page. The final exam will be 1:30-4:30 PM, Wednesday, December 13.
Grading: The grades for the course will be determined by homework 10%, midterms 25% each, and the final 40%. I will not assign any letter grades until the end of the semester. There will be absolutely \textbf{no make-up exams}, so don't ask. I will decide how to handle missed exams based on the reason.
Syllabus: From the text: § 1.1--1.5, § 2.1--2.3, § 3.1--3.6, § 4.1--4.3, § 5.1--5.6, § 6.1, 6.3--6.7.

Some solutions to the homework can be found hanging from my door. Please just make a copy of the solutions and return them... don't ruin it for everyone! Sorry, but some are already missing.
