compMin -- takes componentwise minimum or maximum of a list of lists

Synopsis

• Usage:
compMin L
compMin(L1,L2)
compMax L
compMax(L1,L2)
• Inputs:
• L, a list, containing lists of the same length
• Outputs:
• a list, with the same length as those in L

Description

The functions compMin and compMax take the minimum and maximum, respectively, of a list of lists of integers (or elements of another partially ordered set) by considering each component separately.

The usage compMin(L1,L2) gives the same output as compMin {L1,L2}.

Caveat

If L is empty it will be returned unchanged.
