Trace maps from the algebraic K-theory of the integers, by John Rognes, after Marcel Boekstedt

We prove that the Boekstedt-Dennis trace map from K(Z) to THH(Z) = T(Z) detects the generator in K_3(Z), and that the circle trace map from K(Z) to the S^1-homotopy fixed points of T(Z) detects the stable class of the Hopf map eta.
